[...] By Amy Lawson | Posted in Blogging | 0 Comments The ethics of PR companies have been called into question after the co-founder of Wikipedia, Jimmy Wales, criticised the PR giant, Bell Pottinger for having “ethical blindness” when editing pages on the open source encyclopaedia he founded.
Hmm. The benefits of a physical shop do not include offering (only?) payment by PayPal / phone. They do include being able to take something home that you've bought. Which I don't think is possible at the eBay shop, is it? I think you have to have your goods delivered. Assuming you could take stuff home, there would need to be some way of checking you'd paid for it (though I guess an RFID tag security system might be workable). But the "no messing around" with tills benefit is anyway surely replaced with "messing around with your smartphone or someone else's tablet". Is that really so much of a benefit? Interesting idea - yes. Great idea - not so sure.

Hey Christos, I just want to add that eBay is a win in all their ventures and I believe almost every online shopper has an eBay/PayPal account. Great post by the way...my attentions are sorta drawn to any article related to ebay!

[...] Can you run an business via the web? A message from 2021. | Moredigital sort of reassuring words… he talks about what i am trying to do, and i know it is the right path for me. but i often have to listen to people trying to talk me out of it. some people were always there to try to talk me out of doing what i wanted to do… because my path was never the safest one. i do not believe in safety. i am an anxious guy, full of doubts and insecurities. but i know what i want. and i know how to get there. often i am just too lazy and comfy to move. i know it might get rough and rocky out there. but that is part of the fun, right? everybody likes a good rollercoaster, or horror movie. so why not make your life a bit of a ride? there always are emergency brakes, so fear not! just get aboard and enjoy it while it lasts. nothing lasts forever, anyway.
I've used a Mac since May 1986 and I wouldn't use anything else. But alas none of the above applies to me, although I do have an iPod. These days my Mac has to be second-hand (my present one being 7 years old) and even my iPod is second-hand. I haven't tried an iPad so I'm not qualified to make any comment. Same goes for the iPhone, though I do tend to swear at my Nokia every time I use it and feel that if it had Apple software on it would be a lot easier to use.

I had heard about this somewhere else.

Amazing how much publicity her comments defending her book got.

It seems like this definitely would not be good for the book.

But there's no way to tell since it seems like the author unpublished her book on both kindle and nook.

I'm wondering how this publicity would've affected her ranking had she left the ebook up there.

On the one hand, logic tells me her book would be 'downvoted' and reviewed negatively until it was buried at the bottom, but, on the other hand, the irrational person in me thinks it may have sold quite a few copies regardless of the author's reaction.

I guess we'll never know.
